Samstar is committed to make a lasting and meaningful impact on Nigeria’s pressing unemployment challenges. In our first year alone, we generated over 150 employment opportunities in remote communities where we operate.
OUR IMPACT
We are Lifting a New Generation of Smallholder Farmers out of Poverty
Farm = Food = Future
Reducing Unemployment
We aim to procure more farmlands and hire more local youth, and train them on modern techniques for cassava farming. With increased farm yields, we are confident these young farmers will enjoy more financial gain to help with their livelihoods.
Prior to Samstar’s presence, many community members struggled to find viable employment options without having to uproot their lives and relocate to distant parts of the country. We take pride in providing local employment opportunities that contribute to the economic stability and prosperity of those communities around us.

Gender Empowerment
At Samstar, we are devoted to fostering inclusivity and providing equal employment opportunities across all genders in our farms and factories. It is important to ensure all individuals in our surrounding communities, regardless of gender, have the option to participate in our projects.
By offering uniform opportunities to both women and men, we strive to empower these communities to contribute and benefit from our initiatives.
Environmental Sustainability
We place great priority on minimising our environmental footprint. Hence, we have installed equipment to repurpose waste and by-products generated from our processes. For instance, we utilise our cassava peels and dried fiber pulp to produce nutritious additives for the animal feed industry.
We also produce biogas from our effluent treatment, which is channeled to power our plant boiler sustainably. Any unused biogas is distributed in special bags amongst our workers to use for cooking at home using special biogas stoves, thereby saving felling of trees and the environment.
By embracing such innovative methods to handle waste, we are fostering a more sustainable and eco-friendly operation while maximising resource utilisation.

Decreasing FOREX Pressure
Leveraging Nigeria’s abundant crop resources, we wish to diminish the nation’s reliance on expensive imported raw materials, such as maize starch.
Such strategic objectives will eventually alleviate significant forex pressure on goods that can be domestically produced. By harnessing our local manufacturing capabilities, we all contribute to Nigeria’s economic revival.
Good Agronomic Practices (GAP)
We are committed to implementing Good Agronomic Practices (GAP) to elevate cassava production yields across the country. Our expert agronomy team is dedicated to utilising cutting-edge farming techniques, including optimal fertiliser and pesticide application, careful selection of healthy cassava stems, and complete farm mechanisation.
Notably, we are pioneering the use of irrigation for cassava cultivation, aligning our standards with those of our international partners. As innovators in this endeavor, we have prioritised farmer training to ensure widespread knowledge and ready adoption of these best practices. All these efforts will drive sustainable growth and prosperity within Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
